About Our Nursery

Our Mission
At Noah's Ark at The Lea, our mission is to provide a warm and nurturing environment where children feel safe and secure. We offer many varied activities that are specifically designed to encourage each and every child’s growth. Through co-operative play and creative activities, children reach their social, emotional and physical milestones naturally and with ease.

Our Story
Noah's Ark began life at Crabtree Church in Harpenden and has been offering outstanding preschool education provision since the 1979. We moved our school a to larger premises on the Lower Luton Road in Harpenden and more recently expanded, introducing our nursery partnership The Lea School & Nursery. We are a dedicated team of skilled and highly qualified nursery staff, many of whose children attended Noah's Ark, who have a passion for helping children achieve their full potential.
'Noah's Ark is such a warm, welcoming and happy place. The staff are wonderfully caring and nurturing. We have been extremely lucky to find such a fantastic school for our children.'

What to expect at Noah's Ark Nursery
Settling In & Key Workers
We understand that coming to Noah's Ark may be the first time your child has been away from you for any length of time. To help with the settling in process, we assign your child a key worker who will stay in that role throughout your child's journey at Noah's Ark.

In addition, the key worker is able to tailor the group’s curriculum to the unique needs of each individual child. We implement an excellent record keeping system in which observations of the children in the group and at home are used as a basis for drawing up a curriculum for each child.

Themes
We focus on a weekly theme which could be topical to the time of year, such as the weather, the seasons, festivals, music and transitions. We concentrate on a letter and number each week, gently introducing phonics and maths.
Rolling Snack
We believe that a healthy body makes a healthy mind. A healthy snack is provided each afternoon which includes fresh fruit, vegetables, bread sticks, pitta or bagel with a choice of milk or water.
Parental Involvement
We encourage parents to get involved by having a rota for parents, grandparents and carers to help during sessions. Parents are welcome to come in and share their skills such as playing a musical instrument, talking about their occupation, cooking etc.
Special Occasions & Celebrations
We celebrate each child's birthday, Harvest Festival and Easter and the Nativity. We hold a Teddy Bears Picnic at the end of the year.
